The heart or the brain? emotions or logic?
This picture was taken form the internet. If I am not supposed to be using it, let me know and I will gladly take it off and add a doodle of my own - who am I kidding. I'll hire someone to do it for me.
The above picture got me thinking. How many times in our daily lives this particular event happens. Its starts off at breakfast, to eat Oats that is healthy and filled with fibre and satisfies your logical thinking or to eat nice crispy dosa made in lots of oil along with yummy spice tomato chutney that makes your emotion dance and leap with joy while your heart curses you for being so inconsiderate.
It happens at our work place, in our family lives, even in purchases we do - the uber cool i-phone 5 that is just a size bigger than the older version with nothing much different and huge price tag or a Samsung Galaxy that has the same features without the I-phone tag. The small family care or the huge SUV?
At work, to take up the additional responsibility or hide behind the computer hoping the boss would forget we work there.
Of the multitude of these instances, in my case almost always the heart wins. (Technically the heart does nothing here, it somehow symbolizes out emotional decision making - wonder why that happened. Why wasn't the kidney of the lungs chosen?) The point is the heart always seems to beat the brain in our decisions.
In spite of the brain coming to us with all its logical calculations and charts and analysis we choose the hearts paintings and poetry to make our decisions. It blinds us to the boring facts that the brain tries to register.
Marketers have discovered this a long time ago and that's why we choose and Adidas over an Action. The heart wins always - hands down!!! So its Dosa for me. Hurray.
