Religious skirmish in India today - the hype and the myth!!

I am Hindu and I have no problem with the country of my birth being a secular one. I am writing this in anguish. I write this post to tell whoever cares to listen that religion is a vehicle used by a few with vested interests to bring about their own desires and wants. Religion to these few is nothing more than a means to attain what they want - mainly power, fame and money - and everything else that comes with these.

Who are the ones talking about conversions and re-conversions? Who are the ones talking about establishing a caliphate? Who are the ones talking about removing the words secular and socialist from the constitutional preamble? Who are the ones talking about installing statues of Nathuram Godse? Who are the ones talking about their religions superiority over someones else's? Who are the ones who dig up done and dusted with parts of history that are no longer relevant for our country or its subjects in any possible way?

Is it your neighbor? Is it your friend? Is it your acquaintance? Is it your enemy? Is it your family?

No!

It is some political party representative or religious faction member affiliated to a political party that are going about purveying hatred, sowing the seeds of discord all very cleverly and smartly under the garb of religion. No Ram or Rahim of the country bothers about whether Hinduism is better or Islam is better or for that matter any religion is better/.

When Ram and Rahim and John and Mr Singh are  all working their asses off for "Roti, Kapda aur Makaan", where do they have the energy and time for all this nonsense? The common man is busy in making a life for himself. The middle class is busy in making his family better off. The poor are even busier trying to make ends meet. I am sure these two groups would comprise 80-90% of the population of our country.  They do not have the wherewithal to take their time and mind off the most important things in their life - themselves and their families welfare!

It is a minority group that knows clearly about how much faith religion wields from its followers that are instigating the majority into a frenzy. It is depicted clearly in the movie called "The book of Eli" starring Denzel Washington. The story is about one depraved mans quest in a Dystopian world, to lay his hands on the last surviving copy of the Bible; and for what purpose he states - The man who claims to be the creator of the bible would wield power over the world.

Why is the party that spoke of "toilets before temples" all of a sudden rabidly salivating about removing the word secular from the preamble? Why is the party that promised the Indian superpower now more focused on the agenda of discrediting its opposition party? It has gone to great lengths to do this in fact - by trying to replace the icon of the congress Mr Gandhi with Mr Sardar Patel. And then the henchmen go about spouting asinine comments about how many children Hindus should have? Will these idiots then pay for their upbringing?

The saddest thing in this social milieu is how the masses are being used by these few to attain what they are after - political permanence. They instigate violence and watch it from the sidelines as one man kills another. If things begin to wane and the issues seems to be dying, we always have so many religious issues that could handily be brought in. They play on the insecurities of men and use it to their advantage to establish themselves as the "saviours". Is this any different from what the Britishers did? Divide and rule?

Why was there no flared up emotions on religion when the UPA was in power? Why was there no noise about Nathuram Godse or about Ghar vapsi until the NDA come into power?

As I always said - the intentions of these men is not religious dominance or establishment of one religion - it is purely a strategic game in order to always hold the reins of our country. And with that I implore my fellow Indians to ponder, today they use religion to divide. Once a homogeneous religion is established they will look for something else as strong as religion - like say for example caste - they will then use that to divide. And once that is done - ethnicity will come in. There is no end to this!!!

And if we do not fight back against this now and here,  there will come a time when everything that is being played out now will become too deeply entrenched to eradicate. What is now just a seed of discord will grow into a strong tree that cannot be uprooted!

If we do not stand up and show our middle fingers to these bigots we stand to loose the only one true value a country has to offer is citizens - freedom! Freedom of thought, freedom of speech, freedom of belief!
