The news hour is on, I don't understand why they have a segmented news hour in a 24/7 news channel. Anyway the news today is about an 18 month old baby girl raped somewhere in UP.
They go on to give the details about the rapist and the victim. They then delve deeper into the families of both the parties and they build the story of how the event occurred and add a lot of gruesome details about the man and then with soft sad music build a case for the victim. They blot out the victims face and show the video.
I get really pissed and change the channel. The next channel shows the "Delhi victim's" father asking the Indian courts to give death penalty to the accused person, who is a minor. Why make the poor man be known as the "Delhi victims" father and scar him for life? The name will serve as a reminder forever. Will he be able to move on even for a little while?
I change to cartoon network and peace prevails.
I respect what the media did for the Delhi victim. I am happy that it made the nation wake up to atrocities and heinous crimes. And I sincerely believe that's where their responsibility should end. Why show the poor father again on TV for TRP's? The man must be having nightmares re-living the scenes of his daughters gruesome death.
Why sensationalize the case with dramatic music and dedicate shows for it? Why call upon panelists like movie stars on a case involving rape of an infant? Does that even make any sense?
I compare the media to the men who sold rotis and basic supplies at exorbitant prices when half of Uttarakhand was being washed away. They had one goal, PROFITS.
Vultures are not extinct - they have been reincarnated as media corporations and they wait and watch for the next big death to strike, their survival depends on it.
