Falling in love – it’s such a wonderful thing. I can’t think of any other relationship where someone’s annoyance can turn out to be such a sweet thing. She yelling at him about him not being there to see her yesterday and then further to expound about how he has so many other things important to him than her.
Normally under a circumstance like this, the man would leave, exasperated about the woman’s yelling. But when he is in in love, the smile on his face would be a thing of wonder. The sweet realization about her wanting you to be there for her. The sweetness of that moment, ah – falling in love, quite nothing like it. When she looks into his eyes, it’s like she takes grip of his entirety. It’s like she reaches deep down into his very soul and changed all that he was. And he, turns out gentler, calmer and irreversibly smitten and consummately in love.
When she touches his hands for the first time, it’s a feeling that cannot be justified by words. As they walk on the busy road, oblivious of the maddening traffic and the deafening honks, her hand as it gently brushes his, his mind racing and his brow perspiring, was it intentional, was it an accident? Is it as special to her as it is for me? Should I reciprocate or should I wait? Will this be a missed opportunity if I do not reciprocate? Ah – Love and its ways. No wonder they say it can break down the strongest of men.
As he proves his mettle with his banal stunts on his bike, her sly looks from her house, her smile as she moves back into the house, he is on cloud nine. He rides off into the streets a romantic song on his mind as she heads into her room smiling wide a smile as her physique allows for. The yearning for the night to be over, the unending plots they create to meet up. The sweet sick anticipation of seeing each other again and all the planning to dress up and look good. Ah – only love can make you want to make yourself look so good. It brings out the best in you, without making you feel the effort of it.
And as she thinks of the future, of the near future of problems with her families acceptance of her beloved, her fears and his assurances. His soothing words and firm grasp of her hands as if displaying the strength of his love for her. And then as she thinks of the brighter later future of her life with this man, as man and wife, of a lifetime of memories with this man, her tears of joy and his strong chest to rest upon. Ah – love, the things it does to you, it’s just wonderful.
The fear filled bike trips with her face covered with her shawl and his hidden by his helmet. As they ride on a scorching day with the sun melting the tar off the roads, they find the wind refreshing, the sun’s rays seems to have little or no effect. The willful sudden brakes and the sudden safety concern of the man asking her to clasp her hands around his waist just in case. She knows what’s on his mind and he knows that she knows. And yet the drama goes on – and the sweetness of it all. It’s something of a wonder.
And then as he drops her off home, a twang of pain runs through his heart. His assigned time with his beloved is over and oh so quickly. And he does not shy away from professing it all to her. And she in turn in spite of all her fears makes resolve, hugs him, kisses on his cheeks and runs away into her house, as he stands there stunned and lost in the moment.
Falling in love – it’s such a wonderful thing.
